Monica Kowal is the Founder of BoardView AI, an independent governance advisory practice dedicated to helping boards of directors and senior leadership teams strengthen oversight of innovation and emerging technologies. Her work focuses on governance modernization, strategic risk, and building the board fluency and governance discipline required for responsible and effective AI adoption.

As artificial intelligence (AI) becomes embedded across all sectors, every business, including asset managers and lawyers who advise them, is facing growing regulatory, legal, and governance challenges. This fireside chat brings together an expert in AI governance to explore how firms can responsibly deploy AI in a manner consistent with regulatory expectations, fiduciary obligations, and the professional responsibilities of legal and compliance professionals.
The discussion will examine emerging regulatory frameworks, supervisory expectations, and governance best practices affecting the use of AI. Topics will include governance structures, model risk management, accountability and supervision, data and third-party risk, transparency, and documentation practices.
Participants will gain practical insights into how legal and compliance teams can exercise effective oversight, apply independent professional judgment, and discharge their ethical and professional obligations, and partner with business and technology stakeholders to design and monitor AI governance programs, anticipate regulatory developments, and mitigate legal, ethical, and compliance risks, while maintaining professional standards and public trust.
